£800 for Barnardo's ' Turnaround ' Service
26th March 2007

The Rotary Club of Bradford Bronte has presented children’s charity Barnardo’s with a cheque for £800, to support its ‘Turnaround’ service. Turnaround supports young women up to the age of 18 who are vulnerable to sexual exploitation and abuse through prostitution.

The money was raised through a wide variety of activities, including a Christmas collection at Wood Bank Nurseries and the donation of members’ ‘Christmas Card’ money.

Alison Whalley, a Partner at Bradford Accountants Naylor Wintersgill and President of The Rotary Club of Bradford Bronte, presented the cheque to Raheeda Inayat, who is Barnardo’s Service Manager for the Turnaround service in Bradford.

Alison commented, ‘We are pleased to present this cheque to Turnaround which plays a highly important role in the well-being of Bradford’s young female community.’

Turnaround offers a range of age-appropriate services on an individual, group and drop-in basis. Outreach services to schools and other venues are also provided.

The Rotary Club of Bradford Bronte, which raises funds for this and other local charities including Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Yorkshire Cancer Relief, meets every Thursday at 7.15 a.m at the Midland, Hotel Bradford. Visitors are welcome.
