Include Company info or face a fine
05th April 2007

Bradford based Chartered Accountants Naylor Wintersgill are warning companies and limited liability partnerships (LLP’s) that they face penalties if they do not include new mandatory disclosures on their websites and electronic documents.

Under Government legislation, which came into force on 1st January 2007, the company or LLP’s name, place of registration, registered number and the address of registered office must now be included on websites and all external e-mails.

This effectively updates disclosure requirements that have been in place since 1985 and previously applied to all printed materials such as letterheads, bills, cheques, invoices and receipts.

Alison Whalley, Partner at Naylor Wintersgill comments,

‘The new legislation is relatively simple to comply with. There is no stipulation as to where the information should appear on a website. Company details can be easily included as a footer on all outgoing e-mails.’
